ENCINITAS UNION SCHOOL DISTRICT PRESS RELEASE – APRIL 6, 2020 PARTNERSHIP EFFORTS OF THE LOS ANGELITOS ORGANIZATION AND THE ENCINITAS UNION SCHOOL DISTRICT ENCINITAS, CALIFORNIA - Since 2009, Los Angelitos de Encinitas, Inc., a local non-profit organization, and the Encinitas Union School District (EUSD) have been working collaboratively in an effort to make before and after school care accessible to 40 students each year at Paul Ecke Central Elementary School. In addition to having a safe place to be, these students are provided healthy snacks, homework assistance, exercise, and engaging activities. In conjunction with AVID students from San Dieguito Academy, students who receive support from Los Angelitos also have the opportunity to practice their reading skills by working with high school students on a weekly basis. It truly comes full circle, as some of the AVID students happen to be former students of Los Angelitos who are looking to give back! Given the current crisis surrounding COVID-19, Los Angelitos has stepped in to support Encinitas Union School District families in need. Currently, Los Angelitos has generated $10,000 toward food support for families and is working to add to that. If you are interested in contributing to this effort, donations can be made online at http://www.los-angelitos.org/donations, or checks can be mailed directly to Los Angelitos de Encinitas, PO Box #232682, Leucadia, CA 92023. All donations are tax deductible and will be used for food support. |
